Abstract
Leiomyoma is the most common benign tumor of the esophagus, and surgical enucleation is the treatment of choice. Rescently we successfully performed thoracoscopic enucleation of large esophageal leiomyoma without complication in one patient. The
46
years old male patient complained epigastric discomfort and showed a submucosal mass in lower esophagus under the endoscopic ultrasonography. During operation minimal perforation occured, it was closed with clipping without conversion to an open
procedure. The tumor size was 8cm¡¿3cm¡¿1.5cm respectively. There were less post-operative pain, minimal wound size, and early recovery time. Patient was satisfactory these outcome. These result suggest that esophageal enucleation was performed
